The New “Alex” Device Spring Design, a California-based hardware-engineering firm, has come up with a new digital reading device called the “Alex”. The device looks like the Kindle or the Sony Reader. It features dual screen setup and will offer 3G cell phone and Wi-Fi wireless access. The device will also offer multimedia functionality (audio, video, annotations) and features an expandable SD memory card.
Advantages of the “Alex”:
- Dual screen set-up with b&w and color touch screen (this will allow the reader to browse the web)
- Dual cell phone network and Wi-Fi wireless access
- With the dual screen setup, it will offer increased battery management
- It will also offer the option for the reader to view personal documents
On October 20th, 2009, Barnes & Noble will hold a press conference, releasing the images of the device.
